Dubai Museum - housed in
the city's oldest building, the Al Fahidi Fort, which was the
seat of government and Dubai's rulers residence untill 1971. The
museum has exhibits on nautical items, antique daggers and
archaelogical finds. There are also multimedia and interactive
diplays on many topics.
Grand Mosques - one of the many Mosques in the city, it
has the city's tallest Minaret built in the 1990's. The Mosque
has lovely sand coloured walls and wodden shutters that blend
well with the old quarter.
Shaikh Saeed Al Maktoum House - the former residence of
Shaikh Saeed and the ruling Al Maktoum family has been restored
and turned into a museum with an exhibition of photographs on
Dubai's history. The house itself is built using traditional
methods of coral quarried in the Gulf and then coated in lime
and plaster.
Dubai Creek - the Dubai waterfront epitomises the city so
make sure you take a walk around the Dhow Wharfage or take a
cruise or small boat called an Abra.
Dubai Souq - a great place to shop for Indian wares such
as custom made saris. The souq is woderfuly built and is
visually very lovely.
Golf
court Dubai is the home to two outstanding golf courses.
Both are famous for the innovative design of their club houses
and lush fairways. The Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club sits on
the banks of Dubai Creek with its distinctive club house build
to represent the dhows that sail the Creek.
The Emirates Golf Club,
located south of the city, was the first grass course in the
Middle East. It is the annual home of the European PGA Desert
Classic. This event attracts all of the major PGA players, even

Dubai is a great place to
sample foods from all over the Gulf and Middle East, including
Morrocan, Lebanese and Iranian. Local dishes to sample include
Matchbous, a spicy lamb with rice dish and Hareis, a rich dish
of slow cooked lamb and wheat. Seafood is fantastic in Dubai and
you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious desserts such as an
Arabian bread pudding and Mehalabiya, a pudding sprinkled with
pistachios and rose water.
A great snack sold around the city is Shawarma, a traditional
Middle Eastern snack of lamb or chicken with lettuce inside a
pocket of Arabic bread. |

warm blue water is shallow and the sand is soft and white. The
long beach is divided into smaller public and private hotel
beaches. Hotel beaches
are very well maintained with luxury facilities. This usually
means lawns and swimming pools with beachside food and beverage
service. The public has access to use private or hotel beach
clubs with daily rates that vary from $10 to $50.
Al Mamzar Park beach
- the beach has public facilities
including barbeque sites, playgrounds, picnic areas and food
kiosks. January
temperatures are pleasant so the beaches are full of Europeans.
Summer temperatures can reach 45-50 degrees centigrade with
equally high humidity.

plays all day at this 106 hectare park that has chalets,
barbeque sites, childrens areas, swimming pool, food kiosks,
sheltered beach and lagoon. Open 8:00am to 10:00pm daily,

Al Wasl Park - great for families, offering shaded
seating areas and childrens play areas. Wednesday for women and
children only.
Creek Side Park - a huge park incorporating play areas,
walking and jogging tracks, barbeque sites, mini golf and a 1200
seat amphitheatre. There is also a botanic garden with an exotic
and desert garden. Open 8:00am to 10:00pm daily, Wednesday women

Dubai is quite literally
shopping heaven. You can choose from an endless stream of shiny
shopping centres and traditional markets known as Souqs. Luxury
items are cheaper in Dubai than in most countries and you can
buy anything from designer clothes to electronics.
Bani Yas SquareDominating Bani Yas Square in the heart of
Deira is Deira Tower with its distinctive circular cap. Here you
will discover bargains on electronics, textile products and
consumer products.
The duty free shopping complex is a great place to buy branded
goods as is Al Karma centre and Al Dhiyafah road. Traditional
Souqs sell ethnic crafts, spices, perfumes and jewellery. Deira
Old Souq sells great spices, Naif Souq sells traditional goods
and Gold Souq is one of the largest retail gold markets in the

Dubai Zoo - a small zoo
that has a variety of wildlife including endemic Arabian species
like the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger and Axis Steer.
Wild Wadi Water Park - situated at Jumeirah beach, the
theme for the park is the story of sinbad the sailor's companion
Juha and features 24 rides. Pools and rides have lifeguards on
duty.
Wonderland - this fun park is divided into three
sections. Main street has a water mist show, the theme park has
a cart track and rollercoaster and splashland has water
attractions.Al Nasr
LeisurelandLocated in Bur Dubai, off Zabeel Road, is this
modern leisure park offering a variety of sports facilities
including an ice rink, a bowling alley and swimming pools, as
well as a children's amusement park. Open daily from 0900 hrs to
